A. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Ability to provide instruction to effectively meet the needs of students.
2. Knowledge of effective teaching practices (best practice).
3. Knowledge of the developmental characteristics of students at the designated level.
4. Skill in written and oral communication.
5. Ability to implement federal, state and district goals with students.
6. Ability to relate effectively with students, staff, parents and community.
7. Knowledge of Iowa Teaching Standards.
8. Knowledge of special education and section 504.
9. Knowledge of federal (NCLB), State of Iowa, and Department of Education regulations.
10. Knowledge of Federal Rights and Privacy Act and other civil rights regulations.
B. Education
An earned bachelor’s degree in Education or Board of Educational Examiners approved
alternative.
C. Certification/Licensure
Appropriate Board of Educational Examiners licensure.
