General Summary: (PA) An exempt position responsible for practicing medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions.  Within physician-physician assistant (PA) relationship, PAs exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.  May practice in several primary care areas including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics/gynecology as well as surgery and surgical subspecialties.  May include responsibility for education, research, and administrative services.  All manner of patient care, charting, communications, consultations, and decision making will be done in compliance with appropriate Federal, State, Local, and institutional laws and regulations.

General Summary: (ARNP) A state licensed Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, providing routine diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency care for patients in an ambulatory clinic setting.    Patient care and treatment to include health maintenance, common acute illnesses and management of stable chronic disease.  Communicate and develop work processes with physicians to ensure seamless patient care.

Education/Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant or ARNP program. Four years of health care experience prior to applying to PA or ARNP program, plus one year of experience as PA or ARNP, preferably in a clinical setting. 

PA: National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Pas .  To maintain their national certification, PAs must log 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and sit for a recertification every six years.  State PA license also required.  Current CPR certificate required. 

ARNP: Current WA license to practice as a Registered Nurse.  Current ARNP license to practice in state of WA with prescriptive authority.   Certified by one of the national ARNP certifying bodies approved by the State of Washington.  Eligible for DEA number.
