Description RFA/Minnesota Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering and design service company dedicated to providing clients with timely and appropriate help on an as-needed basis. We provide quality design engineering services to over 200 companies. State of the art computers, CAD software and analysis software allow us to work interactively with our clients and function as an extension of the client's engineering staff.

We work in all areas of mechanical design, including off-highway mobile equipment and mechanical power transmission, consumer, recreational, industrial, medical products and one-of-a-kind special manufacturing machines. Projects include new product design and development, redesign of existing products, cost reduction, problem-solving, concept and analysis.

Requirements The purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer is to develop and implement manufacturing procedures, methods, and processes designed to maximize utilization of labor, material and equipment, improve production efficiency and reduce unit costs.
 
  • Assist in the analysis of plant layouts and material flow; develop, implement and maintain systems to facilitate parts and/or subassembly product flow to and from workstations.
  • Study and recommend tooling and capital equipment requirements to address production and safety issues on current and new products.
  • Create, document and maintain efficient manufacturing methods, processes and quality procedures.
  • Participate in the cost analysis of new designs and design changes, participate in “make vs. buy" analysis and perform value analysis studies.
  • Analyze and integrate computerized manufacturing B/Ms and drawings; establish and maintain computerized routing file.
  • Work with shop floor personnel and Engineering Technician to understand and resolve production problems, methods and procedures.
  •  Act as manufacturing engineering representative for maintenance focus team activities; support NPI programs by providing manufacturing methods and costs.

Education: BS in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering.

Skill: Working knowledge of math/statistics, work measurement, quality assurance, production control, material flow, manufacturing procedures/processes and computer systems. Must have good oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in plant layout, material flow analysis, assembly methods, and time standards; experience in heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.
