Job Description 

Specialty Chemicals Facility in the River Parishes Area Seeks:

 

Assistant Production Superintendent for Direct / Staff Position

 

Primary Responsibility for the Chlor Alkali Unit.

 

Products produced at this facility include:  chlorine, caustic soda, vinyl chloride and PVC with new units under construction

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

We’re looking for an Assistant Production Superintendent who will:

·         Review operating procedures, projects, and preventive maintenance schedules with shift supervisors and technical personnel.

·         Write procedures and work instructions.

·         Inspect plant daily for operational abnormalities.

·         Train technical staff and technicians.

·         Periodically represent Production on the weekend/holiday duty roster.

·         Provide input for performance reviews of personnel.

·         Ensure that spare units are in operating order.

·         Monitor shift operations of continuous production facilities.

  • Schedule preventive maintenance, coordinating work orders with production needs.

·         Communicate company policy, procedures, and changes to subordinates.

·         Prepare daily work schedules for supervisors and technicians.

·         Prepare morning report on plant operations.

·         Apprise supervision of significant incidents and potential operational problems.

·         Perform duties, as necessary, in the absence of Production Superintendent.

·         Respond to personnel suggestions and complaints.

·         Prepare shutdown schedule and coordinates with other departments.

·         Issue monthly report on chemicals consumption & equipment operational summary.

·         Attend daily MIE meetings.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

 

With additional responsibilities in Safety, Quality, Environmental and Cost Control.

 


Job Requirements 

BACKGROUND:

 

The ideal candidate will have:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, technical or related field OR 5+ Years Minimum Experience in a related job function.

·         The ability to work with other supervisors, technicians and employees – often under difficult conditions.  Must be able to handle pressures from operations and management.

·         The ability to apply reasoning and understanding to carryout detailed, written, oral or diagram instructions.

·         Good communication skills, the ability to work under deadlines / pressure, and good organization skills.
