Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) is 383-bed facility, the second largest in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The hospital also offers multiple services at satellite locations throughout the community. And because Shawnee Mission Medical Center is part of a network of more than 500 health care facilities sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, we promote a healing ministry that addresses each individual’s mind, body and spirit.
SMMC earned recognition as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Solucient, the leading source of health care business intelligence, in three of the last four years (2002, 2004, 2005). It was also listed as a 100 Top Performance Improvement Leaders in both 2004 and 2005. In addition, the hospital was one of only three organizations statewide to earn a Kansas Excellence Award in 2004, the top quality award in Kansas. SMMC also received this award in 1998.
SMMC recently embarked on an $84.2 million Critical Care Services expansion, which will include a relocated and expanded ICU, a new Emergency Department, additional surgery suites, new family support areas, and a two-level parking deck. This project is scheduled to be complete in 2008.

The Community
Shawnee Mission Medical Center is located in the heart of Johnson County Kansas. Overland Park, the largest city in Johnson County, is served by three public school districts, Shawnee Mission, Blue Valley and Olathe, which are consistently ranked among the nation’s best. In 2004, “Expansion Management" magazine gave all three Overland Park school districts a gold medal for various categories.
The Kansas City (KC) metropolitan area consists of 17 counties in Kansas and Missouri, with a population of nearly two million people. The “City of Fountains" (KC has more fountains that any other city except Rome) is well known for its barbecue, jazz and cultural attractions.
KC also has a passion for sports. KC is home to the Chiefs (NFL) and Royals (MLB), and also boasts the Kansas Speedway, host of NASCAR and IRL races. The University of Missouri-Kansas City is located just south of downtown, while the University of Kansas in Lawrence is a 30- minute drive to the west. In addition, Kansas State University in Manhattan and the University of Missouri in Columbia are each two hours away.
The Manager has 24-hour accountability, authority and responsibility for quality of services, operational management, and human resource management for an assigned environment(s). The Manager fosters the integration of the organization s vision and values, and accomplishes the mission and strategic plan through an accountable work team. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Manager collaborates with patients/customers, families, physicians, administration and associates to meet customer needs and expectations in a patient focused and healing environment. Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred. Minimum of 2-5 years leadership experience preferred.
