Manufacturing Engineer

 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for manufacturing engineering related to the following:     

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned. 

 

  • New Product Commercialization

  • Transfer product from R&D to manufacturing with all of the appropriate process documentation including, but not limited to, PFMEA

  • Set up the supply chain for new products in concert with Sr. Buyer.

  • Own and deliver the first lot of new product to the customer as per the customer request date with subsequent transfer to the focus factory supervisor and buyer/planner for the rest of the order.

  • Supplier Development and Qualification:

  • Set up process of material/component transfer from HCR to LCR

  • Review and communicate engineering drawing requirements to the LCR supplier by taking feedback from Engineering and Operations

  • Ensure first article inspection and AQL process meets the rigors of company quality standards by implementing and enforcing process and ownership from different function groups within the company

  • Own scrap reduction PD improvements and identify and execute projects in concert with Engineering, Quality and Operations to reduce scrap while improving product quality.

  • Analyzes defective motors, identifies problem and resolution for correction

  • Performs heavy interface with design team and customers with regards to design and manufacturability issues

  • Uses DBS (i.e, Toyota Production System) tools and lean concepts in improving manufacturability, productivity, cost, and quality, including leading and participating in lean manufacturing events.

  • Responsible for following quality system procedures as required.

      

     

  

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

· 2-4 years experience with manufacturing engineering support for electro-mechanical products(including process and test development) preferred.

· Design experience, preferable

· Software experience (SolidWorks, Pro-E)

· Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience is desired
