Medical Technologist
ASCP Certified Medical Technologist
Clinical Laboratory Automation

TEMPORARY FULL TIME POSTION
approximately 12 months.  An opportunity to join an established leader in Clinical Laboratory outreach.

Qualified candidates will be ASCP Certified Medical Technologists with prior experience as a Medical Technologist in a Clinical Laboratory, preferably in Automation.

The Medical Technologist performs a variety of laboratory procedures in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision. Produces accurate and timely test results appropriate to specific age groups by accepted laboratory standards. Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment. Reports abnormal or critical results to the appropriate personnel and notifies department supervisor of issues. Maintains competency in all areas of responsibility. May require extensive standing, sitting, bending, walking and some heavy lifting. May work with hazardous chemicals, noxious odors and infectious diseases. Assists in troubleshooting problems and maintaining quality control and customer satisfaction. May require travel between Carilion facilities. May require working different shifts.  Will work in Automated Lab on Roche Modular Chemistry, Centraur Hematology, Iris IQ Urinalysis, Stago Sta Compact Coagulator.  Will perform maintenance, trouble shooting, calibration, assist with Specials as needed.   Will perform comparability and linearity and cal verification.   Submission with PT activities and semi-annual assistance with technical coordinator with QC Data Review and QC required.  Will analyze and report patient results, maintain inventory.  BR Variant II HBA1C, Immocap allergy testing also required.

Job Requirements


 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:
 Bachelors degree or BA with CLS.


Licensure, Certification, and or Registration:

ASCP MT Certification.

Experience:
Completion of appropriate training.
Automation experience desired.

Other Minimum Qualifications:
Detail oriented, good interpersonal and communication skills, good organizational skills and data entry experience helpful.
