*  Responsible for optimizing the cost effectiveness of the company's supply chain while at the same time meeting customer requirements.

*  Manage, plan, and direct all purchasing activities and staff.

*  Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the company's internal procedures for forecasting, order-entry, scheduling, manufacturing, warehousing and shipping customer orders.

*  Uderstand internal and external protocols required for testing products, qualifying new products and for addressing quality issues that may occur with existing products.

*  Develop new industry contacts and potential sources of supply and work routinely to qualify these potential new suppliers.

*  Meet periodically with executive management to review and refresh the company's sourcing strategy, near term goals, resent results and key pending issues.

*  Develop comprehensive proposals for these reviews for cost reduction and other strategic initiatives.

*  Propose and review appropriate metrics for key goals for cost reduction/avoidance, quality, on-time delivery and others.

*  Knowledge of fasteners, plastics, wireforms, and C-Items helpful.

*  Experience in international purchasing and sophisticated MRP systems.

Requirements *  Extensive demonstrated success in leading a supply chain organization, including responsibility for developing supply chain strategy, establishing and executing against key goals, fostering and qualifying new suppliers, managing purchasing personnel and working in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

*  Progression through major chairs in a sophisticated global supply chain organization, including, for example, junior and senior buying positions, commodity manager, interface with finance, engineering and information systems, logistics, new supplier qualification and customer relationships.  Extensive lead negotiator experience required.

*  Demonstrated capability to communicate on an appropriate technical level with engineering, manufacturing and customer personnel.  Extensive experience with engineering drawings, CAD systems and basic materials requirements and functionality in a metal forming industry, preferably with fasteners.  High level of computer literacy.

*  Personal traits and capabilities must include the ability to simultaneously work at a refined level of strategic conceptualization and with a highly detailed sense of urgency for meeting imediate customer requirements, all in a dynamic environment where priorities shift suddenly and frequently.

*  College degree required, advance degree preferred.  Extensive experience required in customer environments with elaborate quality assurance protocols in the automotive industry.
