Description

Responsibilities:

·         Perform sensory evaluation on all products received or manufactured.  Accordingly, be able to use these senses to discern subtle differences in aroma, taste, color, and opacity between samples

·         Perform appropriate sampling and handling procedures for all applicable materials

·         Perform routine testing of all raw materials and finished goods.  These tests include pH, particle size analysis, specific gravity, refractive index, moisture analysis, GC analysis, IR analysis

·         Accurately weigh and measure materials using precision instruments.  These instruments include analytical balances, syringes, pipettes, and burettes

·         Perform routine record keeping of all tests performed and for all part codes tested.  Especially skilled in filing and retrieving Quality Control Records

·         Perform routine data entry in the Quality Control system and MRP system

·         Perform routine sample storage of all retains and maintain that inventory properly. Especially skilled in filing and retrieving Quality Control Retains

·         Support food safety and environmental monitoring functions as required by the QA (GHP/GMP/HACCP/CFSRA)

·         Provide support for expired material management process

·         Efficiently enter data into the department designed data systems

·         Maintain a safe and clean laboratory adhering to GLP’s and EHS requirements

·         As determined by the Quality Manager, perform product dispositions/corrections. Limitations to the type of disposition will be determined by the Quality Manager

·         Others as assigned

 

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science or related discipline
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer experience in a Windows environment
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Willing to work overtime as scheduled in support of projects and operations needs
  • Must be an independent person who can work in a team-oriented environment
  • Integrity, Punctuality, and Reliability


Preferred Candidates will additionally have any combination of the following

  • Min 3 years of laboratory experience in the food industry or chemical process industry
  • SAP and MS Office experience
  • Working knowledge of GC, GC/MS and Infrared theory and analytical equipment
  • Experience in HACCP and GMP environments
