Job Description 

 

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Daily: Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions Directs operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds customer expectations Provide the primary TMS (Clipper 5.2e), SyteLine and or Pilot application expertise Provide the primary Cognos development and support skills Provide said Corporation with solid business analytical skills Develop alternative solutions both via programming and non-programming methods to resolve daily business problems effectively and efficiently Support ‘user’ departments to allow for the highest productivity. Tests and debugs programs and systems by analyzing them to determine likely problem areas, constructing and using sample data to test programs or systems failures, and rewriting or redesigning programs or systems to correct such failures. Installs and maintains network hardware and software such as routers, bridges, gateways, servers, repeaters. To design, develop and implement PC based business applications / systems for the department according to existing corporate software development standards. To produce system and user documentation during the development of systems. To design and develop database systems in both MS Access and SQL Server Test, debug and document software developed both internally and externally. To carry out maintenance and support of assigned systems. To plan how work is to be carried out to meet targets of the project or team task. Job Requirements 

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field 7-10 years experience in Computer Science Advanced knowledge of all hardware, software, and program languages including TMS (Clipper 5.2e), SyteLine and or Pilot Highly effective communication skills; ability to prepare oral and written reports. Advanced knowledge of the hardware and software systems and components used at said Corporation including Cognos, Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SQL, .Net Skill in understanding and correctly changing complicated, undocumented and poorly written programs and systems. Ability to translate daily business problems into business definitions and solutions for said Corporation Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to handle said Corporation financial and employee information confidentially Skill in reading and analyzing technical information to determine the usefulness of hardware and software to said Corporation applications. Skill in interpreting and communicating technical programming knowledge to end users to allow them the highest productivity. Advanced understanding of networking and other miscellaneous application software
