Our client has 4 positions available for a Switch Translation Engineer at their offices in Orange County, NY. These are full time, permanent positions paying an annual base salary of $65-85K, dependent on experience.
Job Description:
Work as part of the Switch Translation team provisioning, monitoring and maintaining end to end call routing and switch translations for our client’s Telephony network infrastructure. General activities will include working in partnership with the Switch Operations group, Network Operations Center (NOC), Network Architects and outside vendors/carriers, to provision, test, and maintain a new carrier grade Telephony solution on behalf of existing and future clients.
Additional duties required are:
Creating and maintaining all switch translations for new and existing markets, including vendor services such as: Local Calling Scopes, Long Distance (LD), E911 and Directory Assistance (DA).,
Creating, implementing and maintaining all translation scripts and tables required based on monthly Local Exchange Routing Guide (LERG) updates, least cost routing initiatives, problem resolution and traffic redesign; and writing detailed Methods of Procedure (MOP) for the maintenance of these items.
Analyzing and resolving switch logs and other reports to assist in immediate and long term improvements of network translation quality.
Providing Tier III support to NOC on escalated technical issues on a 24/7 basis and engaging vendor/carrier technical assistance centers as required.
Communications Assistance to Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) support as necessary.
Requirements
Minimum of three years experience working with Switch Translations, Session Management, Session Border Controllers, SIP Lines/Trunks, Media Gateways, Class 4/5 Switches, Softswitch and Voicemail/Unified/Integrated Messaging Systems (IMS).
Knowledge and experience troubleshooting translation resolution issues in large, carrier grade, multisite network deployments.
Strong communications skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate effectively with various technical operations and management groups, related to technical support, network planning and operations, and vendor/carrier problem resolution.
Qualified candidates should have a Bachelors degree (BA, BS) preferably in Telecommunications/Network Engineering, Information Technology or a related area. Candidates with previous equivalent training and work experience will be considered.
