for a Full Time Infection Control Nurse

Job Specific Accountabilities

• Demonstrates a timely and dependable attitude in all aspects of work assignments; meets deadline for assigned projects.

• Coordinates and directs all components of Infection Control Program in a timely dependable manner.

• Compiles infection surveillance data and conducts studies and special investigations as required.

• Implements corrective action for control of infection.  Serves as a resource between the Infection Control Committee, Safety Committee, and hospital personnel.

• Monitors environmental cleanliness, reporting lack of compliance to appropriate staff or supervisor.  Utilizes knowledge of disease, illness and injuries when providing patient/employee care.

• Plans, organizes and conducts education, inservice and maintains files.

  Initiates precautions as patient condition necessitates, substantiating documentation and procedures.

• Upon termination of precautions monitors Housekeeping staff/procedures to ensure that appropriate technique is followed.

• Provides staff and patient with explanations of condition and precaution procedures as necessary.

• Maintains a current awareness of new legislation and regulations influencing standards of practice.

• Understand the principles of infection prevention and control and interprets and complies with Title 22 requirements and JCAHO.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Current CA RN license
• One (1) year experience in field of Infection Control or CDC approved courses in hospital Infection Control/Epidemiology or Bachelors Degree in health related discipline and certified Epidemiologist
• One (1) year experience or education in disinfection and sterilization practices
• Knowledge or experience in patient care and adult education principles
