Position Description
JT Packard, headquartered in Madison, WI has an opening for a UPS Field Engineer in the Chicago area.  RELOCATION ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED. This person will be responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, installing and maintaining UPS systems, batteries and other critical power equipment.  Additionally, this position provides engineering and technical support to customers on operational and maintenance aspects. This position involves preventative and emergency maintenance on a 24/7 on-call basis with regional responsibility.

JT Packard offers a competitive salary, paid vacation, and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision and a 401K plan. Overnight travel is minimal and work weeks are 40 hours on average. This individual will work from home when not on a customer site and will be provided with a monthly auto allowance.

This position requires 3-5 years of field experience in UPS, battery technologies or electronics.

Ideal candidates will have 

• Associates degree in electronics repair or a related field,  Bachelors degree is preferred.
• Factory training in the repair and maintenance in one, or several leading UPS brands is highly desired along with field technician or related military experience
• Candidates must have the ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals, electric and electronic schematics, and policies and procedures
• Demonstrate an understanding of single phase and three phase circuit theory and AC/DC circuit theory
• Be proficient in the use of test equipment

 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required along with the ability to deal with customers where tact may be required. PC fluency is highly desired with specific attention to e-mail and Microsoft Office product skills.
