GENERAL DUTIES
Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Department of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at the City College Center for Worker Education/CUNY invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the interdisciplinary study of the Americas, to start February/September 1, 2010 (subject to budgetary approval). Field of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with a background in and evidence of scholarly potential in Political Theory, International Affairs, Comparative Political Economy, and/or Transnational Cultural Flows. The Department offers a BA program in Liberal Arts for working adults and has recently instituted an MA program in the Study of the Americas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
PREERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to teach a wide range of classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicants with experience teaching adult, non-traditional urban students especially encouraged; also encouraged are those who can contribute to the building of the MA program. Experience with grant writing, institution building, and program development required.
COMPENSATION
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
