Position Summary:

 

The Design Analyst works within our Product management department and is responsible for driving the development of a market-leading integrated electronic health record and practice management solution.  Working closely with our customers both internal and external to gather use requirements and formulate design specifications for the development group to produce.  This position also assists with all areas using the EHR and PM systems to help install the product, answer questions for sales and marketing, test application for quality assurance, and answer customer inquiries.  Develops and executes on business plans, manages the product lifecycle, and product positioning in the market place.

 

Responsibilities:

  • With a focus on Electronic Health Record and Computerized Physician Order Entry systems, develop/prioritize enhancements or new applications obtained from competitive analysis, customer advisory groups, physician advisors, user meetings, regulatory requirements and feedback from internal department (i.e. Sales, Implementation, etc.)

  • Work closely with physicians and other clinicians on the development plans for the EHR and CPOE products.

  • Develop functional requirements document for all enhancements based on requirements standards.

  • Create detailed design specifications including prototypes of the application changes.

  • Continuously review and prioritize enhancements based on user benefits, market demand, contracts or contract addendums, prior commitments and release schedules.  This includes maintaining the HMS User Request system for responsible products.

  • Asses regulatory requirements and changes such as those from CMS, HIPAA, JCAHO and state agencies in a proactive manner and determine if software changes are needed or required.  Then work with programming in planning changes to product design to comply where appropriate.

  • Manage the development process to get optimal design output and manage changes to the design coming through review processes.  This includes reviewing and signing off the conformity of the designed software to the functional specifications.

  • Train the education department on product enhancements and work with documentation and training teams on use of delivered software (i.e. documentation needs, business benefit, how to install, how to train, etc.)

  • Work with QA department as needed in developing testing scenarios and document/communicate any special testing requirements on individual projects.

  • The design analsyst works closely with programming throughout the project to gain concurrence on product design.

  • Communicate through different forums product changes internally and externally (customers).

Requirements Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred). Strong Technical background, with experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and web-based technology. Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience with PM and/or EHR products, either at a practice or at a vendor. Excellent teamwork skills and ability to function as part of a large team is required. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.   Experience in a medical practice business office desired. Good project management skills are a plus. Must be able to travel 25% of the time.
