Description

Purpose

  • Lead system safety and campaign prevention efforts throughout vehicle development and launch. Develop and implement System Safety Program Plan and campaign prevention work plan. Work closely with internal and customer engineering teams to assure all aspects of safety and campaign prevention have been addressed and achieve successful customer sign-off.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish program safety and campaign prevention targets
  • Develop and implement System Safety Program Plan (SSPP)
  • Develop and execute campaign prevention work plan
  • Lead all safety and campaign prevention related tasks and meetings
  • Work closely with Project Quality Engineer and Customer Liaison to coordinate efforts
  • Develop and implement hazard tracking process
  • Ensure that all inputs from campaign prevention activities are include in system design
  • Lead system hazard and fault tree analysis
  • Develop system level Failure Mode Effects Management (FMEM) strategy
  • Develop and conduct system safety validation and safety demonstration tests
  • Develop and implement module level safety and campaign prevention reviews and audits
  • Identify and elevate areas of concern to appropriate level of management
  • Coordinate safety and campaign prevention related efforts of system and module level engineering teams
  • Lead customer interface, ensure customer requirements are met and achieve customer sign-offs related to safety and campaign prevention
  • Lead all post launch safety and campaign prevention activities
  • Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 specifications
  • Identify concerns and initiate corrective actions (through verification) relating to product, process, and quality systems
  • Initiate preventative and continuous improvement actions relating to product, process, and quality systems
  • Any other tasks requested from time-to-time and those required to be done for the project
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering related field or equivalent technical degree
  • One to seven years of experience with System Safety and Hazard Analysis in the automotive, aerospace or defense contracting industry
  • Experience with safety critical systems composed complex electronics and control software
  • Awareness of ISO 26262 or MIL-STD-882
  • Experience with hazard analysis, FMEA, FTA and other safety related tools and techniques
  • Hands-on experience or knowledge of Automotive Manufacturing and related Manufacturing techniques preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels (verbal and written)
  • Experience in training and moderation of meetings
  • Strong PC skills including data analysis with statistical software in additional to desktop tools preferred
  • Experience in technical report writing, technical presentation, presentation of information in easy to understand fashion
