Description
Work with manufacturing and design engineering teams for avionics recorders used in the analysis of airframe data collected during aircraft operations, including ground and in-flight. The focus is on avionics data acquisition and management systems recorders in an operational context. Candidate will be required to make-sense of the raw data collected during aircraft operations. Teledyne products enable the recording of every aspect of the aircraft behavior while in-flight or on the ground for quality assurance as well as maintenance purposes, including but not limited to data collection and analysis on airframe stresses, engine operations, fuel monitoring, landing-gear behavior and cabin systems.
Will work with customers on customizing the Teledyne flight data recorders and event analysis systems to produce the required data analysis. Must be able to perform a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical tests on flight data recorders and data acquisition and management systems as part of the trouble shooting services offered to customers. Use electronic test instruments to ensure proper functioning of the flight data systems according to manufacturer specifications and customer requirements. May recommend to the equipment manufacturing division changes to the circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance of the flight data products and to customize flight data products.
Confer with customers and potential customers by telephone and in person in order to provide information about Teledyne’s avionics product line for operational data recorders, flight event analyzers and flight analysis services. Assist in coordinating customer concerns with senior manufacturing engineering professionals.
Candidate must understand aerospace engineering in order to demonstrate to customers how to optimize the use of the data recorders to meet their specific needs.
Will be required to examine, compile and analyze relevant airframe and operational data to show to users how to interpret the recorded events, assess the validity of any complaints regarding the functioning of the recorders and to determine possible causes for failure of the avionics equipment, if any.
Will be required to review and analyze both the avionics performance reports as well as the data reports to assist the customer in ensuring that the recorders are functioning and being used in the optimal way. On bench and in-flight documentation may be required.
Will be required to work with the customers to resolve grievances and make determinations as to which problems should be escalated to designate engineering departments for further investigation. Follow up to ensure that appropriate support and/or changes were made to resolve customers' problems.
Responsible for keeping records of customer interactions, inquiries, complaints, comments and actions taken. Participate in the planning and conducting of operational and stress tests on models and prototypes of various flight data management systems and equipment. Evaluate product data output from an aerospace engineering perspective as a means to determine how recorders can be improved.
Write technical reports and other documentation for management by compiling customer and engineering reports. Analyze project requests and proposals and engineering data to assist product development and senior engineering with the feasibility of new products including cost, and production time. Provide customer inputs and comments to engineering to assist with designing, fabricating, modifying, or testing data acquisition and recorder equipment, including testing methods, production costs, quality standards, and completion dates.
Requirements
5 years. Experience in the field of aerospace electronics and data recorders acceptable substitute for experience in the job offered.
