Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity in our Kansas City, MO office in our Operations group for am Administrative Assistant in our Legal Department. 

 

Job Duties:

Provide administrative support to General Counsel and other Staff Attorneys and members of the Legal Department.

  • Greet and provide initial point of contact for visitors to Legal Department.
  • Answer phones and assist in coordinating schedules and calendars as well as distribute and collect mail for General Counsel, Attorneys and staff members.
  • Prepare or assist with correspondence as directed by General Counsel, Attorneys or other members of the Legal Department.  Prepare correspondence on own initiative about administrative matters.
  • Enter and track contract review requests daily.
  • Maintain or initiate various Legal Department lists, databases and electronic files. 
  • Organize and maintain General Counsel and Legal Department files and maintain law library.
  • Prepare special or one-time reports, summaries, as required.
  • Schedule and arrange for departmental meetings, in-house seminars and other conference room use.
  • Make photocopies, scan and/or fax correspondence, documents, and other printed matter.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A college education/degree is preferred.

  • Previous experience as a legal secretary or experience in a legal environment is required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of administrative support experience. 

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have the ability to multi-task. 

  • Excellent communication and organization skills. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
