Job Description 

Princeton HealthCare System is currently searching for a Full-Time and Part Time Occupational Therapist for our Princeton HomeCare Center.

The Occupational therapist provides Occupational Therapy services in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Bylaws of the Princeton HealthCare system. Occupational therapy practice involves examination, evaluation, treatment, and instruction of individuals for the prevention, habilitation, rehabilitation of physical or psychiatric or learning disability, functional deficit and/or pain. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

·         Performs a patient examination in a technically competent manner.

·         Evaluates clinical findings to determine diagnosis and outcomes of care.

·         Designs a plan of care that integrates goals, treatment, outcomes and discharge plan.

·         Complete accurate and complete documentation for discharges, resumption of care and recertifications using the OASIS instrument.

·         Performs interventions in a competent manner. Follows regulatory guidelines including National Patient Safety Goals ( NPSG).

·         Adapts delivery of care to reflect respect for and sensitivity to individual differences.

·         Adheres to ethical practice standards.

·         Produces documentation using laptop on-site to support the delivery of therapy services.

·         Communicates in ways that are congruent with situational needs. Communicates timely and effectively with team members, including care coordinators and other disciplines.

·         Addresses patient needs for other services.

·         Educates others using relevant and effective teaching methods.

·         Incorporates an understanding of economic factors in the delivery of services and maintains compliance with productivity standards of the department as specified in the staffing plan.

·         Uses support personnel according to legal standards and ethical guidelines.

·         Implements a self-directed plan for professional development and lifelong learning.

·         Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department; collaborates with other care givers/staff, within and outside the Department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service and provides supportive and excellent service.

·         Maintains standards of confidentiality.

·         Age-Specific Knowledge &Skills – Possesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet patients’ physical, psychological and social needs with those growth and developmental levels/patient populations served within the department.

·         Participates in unit compliance as related to established standards. Other duties and projects as assigned.

 

 


Job Requirements 

Qualified candidates will have graduated from an Occupational therapy program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association, or its equivalent, if educated outside the U.S., indicating that the individual possesses the appropriate educational requirements. Requires a valid driver’s license and the use of a car during work hours. Must be licensed by the New Jersey Board of Occupational Therapy. Certified or eligible for certification as a Registered Occupational Therapist by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.  One year rehabilitation experience with an adult population. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required’ professionalism essential. Certification in CPR/BLS for the Healthcare Provider is required. Also required are a customer service orientation, a teamwork approach, flexibility, organizational and problem solving skills.
