Job Description
The Director of Finance provides direction for financial planning and analysis activities required for the Scripps Coastal Medical Center. This includes planning, coordination, and preparation of the annual operating budget (including integration with the budget for Scripps Coastal Medical Center, financial reporting, capital budgeting and analysis, operations analysis, cost accounting, benchmarking, evaluating the financial feasibility of business plans, and training. The Director of Finance is an internal customer of the Scripps Health shared services for accounting, patient financial services and supply management. As the representative of the financial function in Scripps Coastal Medical Center, the Director is responsible for adding value to the operations through performance of the position duties as outlined below in Section VI.
Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications (required) Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field.

 

Minimum Qualifications (required) 5-7 years of progressive health care financial management experience. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective fiscal/accounting policies and financial controls, to evaluate and assess the financial viability and legality of contracts, grants, and /or financial award arrangements, and knowledge of government financial reporting requirements and standards.

Knowledge of computer-assisted processes and programs with the ability to qualify and illustrate complex financial reports, comparisons, impacts and/or projects.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse organization.

Skill in arbitrating between and negotiating with individuals and groups of people both inside and outside of the organization.

A demonstrated ability to recruit, train and manage people and set goals, giving appropriate support, evaluating, directing and holding employees accountable, while maintaining high morale and productivity.

Ability to plan, schedule tasks and projects, and maintain control of one's own and others' work flow.

 

Preferred Qualifications A Master's degree in Business Administration/Finance preferred.
