job description


  

The Logistics Specialist will solicit and receive loads from shippers; contract with outside carriers to haul freight with Ruan/customer system; perform customer service functions to include but not limited to;:

 

  • Schedule outbound/inbound appointments / some at Mexico facilities

  • Track all loads

  • Handle inquiries from shippers, brokers, and terminals

  • Negotiate spot rates

  • Coordinate claims through Ruan Risk Management

  • Communicate with carriers about upcoming promotions and forecast our future needs 

  • Look for process improvements

  • Look for ways to improve service with the carriers

  • Present cost savings ideas to both Ruan and the customer. 

  • Take on special projects where needed

  • Act as back-up to other Ruan Logistics Specialist.

  • Work with carrier partners to improve processes and information flow

  • Collect data on carrier performance and give regular feed back



job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree highly desired and/or equivalent related experience

  •  Must be bi-lingual, fluent in Spanish
  • Multi task in a high volume busy environment
  • Some limited travel may be required
  • Must have strong customer service and computer skills
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills are necessary
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Transportation experience is a plus
  • Must present self in a professional manner as position is on site in the customers corporate office
