Description

 

Drives manufactured and purchased materials and provides scheduling for plant production operations to meet customer requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

§         Maintain materials to achieve greater than 95% on time delivery to customer request date
§         Maintain the visual order replenishment system (kanban) for manufactured and purchased parts
§         Weekly review of kanban stocking levels and necessary adjustments of kanban quantity (with appropriate approvals)
§         Provide production scheduling support to operations as required to support customer request date
§         Communicate effectively with all departments and levels of management
§         Participate in daily and weekly production review meetings
§         Participate in daily factory meeting.
§         Implement new and changed material master data and kanban data to maintain functioning material replenishment system
§         Generation of purchase orders as needed on a timely basis
§         Support DBS (lean manufacturing) by participating in Kaizens, problem solving, and standard work.
§         Perform cycle counting as required and participate in physical inventories as required.
§         Follow up, expedite, communicate and escalate materials as necessary to support customer request dates.
§         Responsible for following quality system procedures as required

Daily Requirements detail:

·         Review Kanban board

o        Convert all mfg/purchased parts inventory to 2 bin point of use

o        Ensure cards are on correct peg

o        Ensure past due and stock outs are identified, have root causes, and updated due dates on the cards

o        Daily call to suppliers who have tags that are past due

o        Verify with supplier receipt of PO.  Verify material #, PO#, quantity, and delivery date

o        Run report identifying all PO’s that are 75% used and provide to Sr. Buyer

o        Review exception expedite list.  Notify suppliers.

  • Daily update of production boards
  • Communicate to Sr. Buyers quotation/lead time/issues, etc. requirements
  • Daily identification of kanbans w/ stockouts and provide estimated date of replenishment.
  • Weekly communication of monthly shipment forecast relative to pushouts/pull ins.
  • Monthly communication of quarterly shipment forecast relative to pushouts/pull ins.
  • Manage spike cards

Requirements

§         B.S./B.A. Business Administration, Business Management/Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent is required

§         Kanban and lean manufacturing experience is required

§         Strong computer skills are required

§         Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

§         Must be able to work a flexible schedule

§         5 years of experience in master scheduling and/or production planning

§         5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

§         Working knowledge of materials planning and purchasing

§         Ability to negotiate delivery and establish and implement programs designed to reduce inventory and improve component availability

§         Excellent communication, negotiation and follow-up skills
