Commodity Manager

Medical Equipment Manufacturing company searching for an experienced Commodity Manager.

We are NOT looking for just a buyer!  We are looking for someone who possesses the ability and experience to manage a team of buyers who procure raw materials on a global level.

Commodity Manager Responsibilities Include:

§         Developing, driving and implementing the commodity strategies across the organization

§         Leading highly strategic, global, cross-functional Sourcing Teams in the strategic sourcing process

§         Managing, developing, and implementing strategies and goals for commodities supporting department objectives for quality, cost and supplier development

§         Drafting, negotiating and executing contracts while coordinating with Legal, R&D, Operations, Quality, Finance and Senior Leadership for buy in

§         Using strategic sourcing tools to proactively conduct spend analysis, maintain cost models and metrics by supplier, supplier performance and commodity

§         Routinely presenting proposals, recommendations and results to Senior Leadership

§         Serving as Commodity information resource/resident expert for the organization

§         Educating, coaching and mentoring of other employees in Global Sourcing & Planning, Manufacturing, Marketing and Product Development

§         Managing, developing and maintaining responsibility for the business relationships with suppliers while maintaining over all business ownership of specific commodities to include managing, facilitating, and monitoring communications with suppliers and internal employees


 

 

Requirements

 

Minimum Experience:

·         Minimum of 4+ years experience (7+ years preferred) in commodity buying, procurement, or raw materials purchasing, or project management in manufacturing

·         Experience in direct sourcing of raw materials such as metals, plastics, casting, precision machining and packaging in a manufacturing environment

  

Preferred Experience:

·         Experience in FDA regulated/aerospace/automotive industries experience strongly preferred

  

Minimum Education:

·         4 yr degree (Bachelor)

  

Preferred Education:

·         4 yr degree in Operations Management or Supply Chain Management 

·         Masters in Business or Supply Chain preferred)

·         CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) and/or

·         Project Management Professional

  

Candidates must possess the following knowledge and skills:

Team leadership skills, customer service, problem solving, communications, negotiations, tact, judgment, organizational skills, procurement strategies, understanding of market drivers, high level negotiation of contracts, quantitative and analytical abilities, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment, strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills showing the ability to communicate difficult concepts to all levels of the organization, proficiency in MS Office suite of products, especially Excel and MS Project.
