Job Description

Central Garden & Pet Company (NASDAQ:CENT), is a leading innovator, marketer and producer of quality branded products for the pet and lawn and garden supplies markets. Excel Garden Products, a division providing sales support and logistics for both proprietary brands and other consumer recognized brands is searching for an Independent Sales Associate.

 

The Sales Associate reports to the Sales Manager, and is responsible for territory growth and will make weekly sales calls to Garden retail, Hardware and feed & farm accounts.  The position will sell in branded and vendor partner products and aid the store in overall ordering and account management. The Sales Associate will actively seek to develop new accounts and opportunities to grow the territory.

 

Our Branded products include names such as Pennington Seed for wildlife and forage vegetation, Amdro and Over’n’Out Fire ant Killer, Image, Sevin, Maxide Professional and many more.

Currently we have a position for the Central Texas Market.  This Independent Sales position territory will cover Waco and its surrounding areas.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Generate orders on a weekly basis along with selling in new items and helping our A.R. department to collect our receivables
  • Build effective partnerships with both existing and new accounts
  • Develop profitable new accounts to expand the territory

 

 
Job Requirements

Experiences/Skills/Education

 

  • A college degree is preferred or equivalent experience
  • Previous outside sales experience is a plus but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of the garden or forage industry is a definite benefit
  • Sales associate must be proficient in Microsoft office suite applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience using a PDA to generate and transmit orders a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and transportation

 

Working Conditions

 

  • The position is a home based job without an assigned office to report to on a daily basis
  • The position is outside sales , which will include a significant amount of automobile travel time in their personal vehicle

 

Other

 

  • Sales associate will have a mileage allowance based on actual mileage driven
  • The position is eligible for company health benefits, 401k, etc.
  • Bonuses spiff and other incentive programs are offered from time to time.
