Transportation Supervisor- Inbound
                                                     (New Business and Carrier)

Essential functions include:

Generate cost savings equal to $500K per year by aggressively seeking new business ventures.  Creatively locate and establish new carriers outside current geographic area giving logistics the ability to increase number of backhauls

Monitor $10.5M operating budget and explain profits and losses monthly.  Evaluate net changes in profit, explain variance, and determine plan to meet/exceed budget.   

Manage unloading service programs; including sourcing, monitoring rates, and proper payments.

Ensure that freight rates and vendor pick-up allowances remain in-line with current costs and needs.  Review and renegotiate on a regular basis. Develop, negotiate and generate new business opportunities for customer pick-ups for ASC, third party, and private fleet inbound programs.  Negotiate cost justified pick-up allowances with vendors, while improving service level objectives.

 

 
Candidate qualifications: 

Education (Minimum Needed): College degree.
Experience (Minimum Needed): 5 – 7 years transportation / distribution experience.

Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Must have strong supplier relationship management skills. Knowledge of current logistics (oracle operating system background preferred), distribution and transportation programs and procedures.

Special Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment with last minute changes. Excellent customer service skills.
