Job Description

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate CNA to provide care for our residents in Memory Care Assisted Living at John Knox Village.  Provides assistance and services to residents with dementia to support their highest level of functioning.  Must have excellent work history stability and be available to work evenings.  Previous dementia care required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assists with and contributes to the social, recreational, spiritual and mental needs of the residents.  Helps plan and carry out therapeutic activity programming.
  • Ensures that residents function at the highest level while meeting daily needs.  Provides cuing assistance to residents of ADL and IADL activities such as dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, etc.
  • Ensures residents are accounted for and reside in a safe environment.  Monitors the location of residents on the unit, monitors doors and alarm system, identifies, reports and helps to correct unsafe conditions.

Job Requirements

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certified Nurse Aide is required - active Missouri CNA certification
  • Food handler permit is required

Education: 

This job requires a high school diploma or G.E.D.

 

Experience:

2-3 years of experience working in an Alzheimer’s or other dementia care setting is preferred.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write simple sentences, paragraphs, and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in routine, standard situations.

Customer Service:

Responds promptly to resident needs; greets family members and visitors warmly; reports changes and/or concerns to CMT, LPN or Resident Care Coordinator; and answers phone promptly and professionally.
