Title:  Plant Controller

  

Business Description:

The company is a growing, product-focused food manufacturer selling primarily into the supermarket, foodservice and convenience store channels.  The company is privately held, and part of a leading group of food manufacturing companies. 

  

Job Summary:

Lead the financial affairs of the organization and prepare financial analyses of operations, including monthly and annual financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Controller will have a hands on operational approach, initially with limited resources, and will be immediately responsible for building and improving the existing accounting system.  The Controller will report directly to the group Chief Financial Officer. 

  

Essential Functions:

§         Direct responsibility for maintenance of all books and records including payables, receivables, inventory and cash.

§         Improve and develop the company’s accounting system to provide a stable platform to enable it to support future growth. Initial projects will include migration from the existing Quickbooks system to a more appropriate MRP system, development of inventory standard costing, and development of a monthly reporting package.

§         Development/analysis of accounting information in order to review operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters relating to the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization

§         Responsible for leading, developing and evaluating office and administrative personnel

§         Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institute and maintain other planning and control procedures, and analyze and report on variances

§         Assist with coordination of annual independent audit

§         Identify cost/productivity improvement opportunities and pursue their implementation

§         Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes

§         Participate, when appropriate, in strategic planning and regular management meetings

  

  

Work Schedule:  Salaried position, Monday-Friday, 40+ hours per week, minimal travel

  

Location:  Du Quoin, Illinois



Requirements

Requirements: 

  • Education:  BA/BS degree in accounting, finance or related major; CPA certification strongly preferred
  • Experience:  seven plus years related experience, including at least three years of management oversight experience (ideally in a manufacturing environment)
  • Specialized Skills or Knowledge:
    • Strong leadership abilities
    • Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent computer skills, including PC based financial reporting applications
    • Experience with cost accounting
    • Experience with managing/evaluating the IT/MIS function and aptitude for software system analysis
