Title:            Claims Manager I

Essential Job Functions – Claims Manager I, Richardson, TX

This position manages and controls the processing, investigation and settlement of claims.

May perform duties unique to the area, such as:

·        Reviews life, long-term disability, weekly income, AD&D and waiver of premium claims; requests and reviews claim investigation reports from outside agencies; approves or denies claims within current company limits.

·        Corresponds and communicates with claimants, policy holders, attorneys, doctors, agents, field personnel, reinsurers and other departments within the company to resolve or discuss matters relevant to effective claim administration.

·        Responsible for the preparation of various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports summarized the claims received/denied and paid.  Monitors time of service, productivity, and quality performance standards.

·        Reviews group account reports to ensure that they are current and accurate; monitors experience records to ensure an accurate reflection of claim payments.  Oversees the collection of all reinsurance collectibles overpayments.

·        Directs and controls the timely processing of claims submitted under administrative service contracts.  Reviews, approves or denies complex claims. Oversees the monthly billing coordination for administrative services rendered.

·        Determines rates for administrative service contracts; accompanies company representatives to present contract proposals to group personnel and assists group personnel in establishing and maintaining a self-insured system.

·        Determines the need for, develops and implements new procedures for claims processing, investigation and adjudication.  Responsible for customer satisfaction, responding to all inquiries, and legal compliance.

·        Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Job Requirements – Regional Sales Manager I, Owings Mills, MD

The selected candidate will meet the following criteria:                                     

·    Requires a Bachelor's degree or 4 years’ experience in the life insurance industry.

·     Requires six years of life and long/short term disability claims adjudication background including four years supervisory experience in a claims environment.

·      FLMI, ICA, and/or HIA insurance designation is preferred.

·      Knowledge of corporate systems including automated billing, claims, group policy administration and financial systems.
