Description
Our client is a global oil and gas company with positions available for Material Management Planning Advisors in their Project Management and Construction division. The company has funding for projects for at least the next 20 years which will also provide great job security for the selected candidates. With the expansion of exploration and other business unit activities taking place over the next several months, our client would like to have their new Material Management Planning Advisors hired by October 2009.
Position Responsibilties:
The Materials Management Planning Advisor (MMPA) provides Subject Matter Expertise and advice regarding project materials management for oil and gas construction projects. The MMPA provides early project planning support on major capital projects during the Select Stage, with focus on materials management issues identification, prevention, and mitigation. The MMPA assesses, advises, and influences Project Management on materials management considerations during the development of the contracting strategy. The MMPA also has a lead role in improving the Materials Management Framework, including guidance, policy and standard operating procedures as part of a collaborative effort to identify and implement best practices.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides advice to project teams during the Select Stage through development of the initial project materials management strategy; analyzes and assesses alternative materials management strategies as part of optimizing the overall execution and project contracting strategies
· Maintains close liaison with appropriate members of Management, Project Team, Project Management & Execution functional advisors and other company organizations
· Analyzes data on market intelligence from other groups and uses results to optimize project materials management strategies
· Develops training program to mentor and train engineers on all aspects of materials management
· Provides guidance and leadership in contractor pre-qualification, bid slate selection, tendering and evaluation of proposals with focus on contractor’s supply chain/material management system and capabilities
· Develops, sustains and improves company’s materials management tools and work processes including:
– The integrated, multi-disciplinary work flow for contractor materials management
qualification, technical/execution bid evaluation, performance assessment, and capture of lessons learned
– Materials management related risk assessment and mitigation.
· Advises projects on materials management related provisions to be included in Contracts to confirm these documents are aligned with project execution strategies
· Advises projects on materials management best practices and lessons learned
· Subject matter expert / focal point for project materials management planning matters
Requirements
Qualifications and experiences:
· Extensive knowledge of materials management/supply chain, theories and concepts
· Broad-based, related professional experience, project roles especially directly with owner companies in the oil and gas industry.
· Proficient in oral and written communications
· Strong project execution knowledge and experience (planning through design and construction) in the oil and gas industry.
· BS Engineering REQUIRED (MS Materials Management or MS Engineering, desirable)
. International experience and/or interest in international assignments is a plus.
