Description Established in 1927, Draper's & Damon's (www.drapers.com) is a fashion brand for the sophisticated, feminine, and classic woman.  We are a tri-channel ladies apparel company with 47 stores nationwide.

We have an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Retail Marketing reporting to the Vice President-Retail Store Operations, the ideal candidate will have 10+ years experience in setting and planning the strategic marketing direction of the organization’s retail store division for short and long term company overall growth.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Ensures advertising and marketing across all communication media supports the identity of Draper's & Damon's as a specialty ladies fashion apparel destination for customers within the target markets.
  • Develops business and marketing plans to increase sales and profitability, and improve competitive advantage.
  • Recommends advertising and marketing direction in response to market research, trends and competitive analysis.
  • Initiates promotional events, communication strategies and branding to drive sales, with emphasis in new and existing markets.
  • Launches marketing campaigns, monitors results and devises strategies and tactics based on assessed outcomes.
  • Works closely with Merchandising Team to develop appropriate marketing vehicles to satisfy vendor requirements.  Explores and executes cross promotional and tie-in advertising opportunities with pre-existing vendor programs both in and out of stores.
  • Negotiates ad rates and discounts where possible.
  • Develops and maintains strong key industry relations with media and vendors.
  • Leads, manages and develops advertising and marketing staff members.
  • Responsible for advertising budget-to-actual throughout the year.
  • Designs and prepares newspaper advertising, copy and collateral.
  • Manages and executes strategic projects as assigned.

Requirements
  • 10 to 15+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) in Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in an apparel environment that includes catalog and specialty chain store operations
