Decorator Consultant
BASIC FUNCTION:
Sells and performs related assignments necessary to maintain or achieve maximum sales volume and customer service standards in custom decorating and achieve personal sales productivity goals.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Sells custom decorating merchandise outside of a store in customer’s homes and performs related services including service calls and installs.
2. Exploits sales potential of assigned leads and develops new leads through prospecting and networking with store associates and customers. Understand and exploits credit programs.
3. Takes measurements, prepares order specifications, completes contract, obtains customer signature and method of payment and turns job into studio coordinator for processing.
4. Ensures deliver and installation, as contracted, including:
a) Job tracking all active jobs, maintaining an awareness of delivery and installation schedules and communicating with customer per guidelines.
b) Reviews all suspended jobs and resolves according to guidelines. (Standard is 2 working days.)
c) Working with the installation site to assure timely delivery of the merchandise.
d) Following up with the customer after installation to assure that all merchandise was received and installed to the customer’s complete satisfaction.
e) Resolution and follow up on all re-selects/re-works and customer service issues.
5. Handles customer complaints within guidelines and refers complaints outside of guidelines to Sales Manager with recommendation for resolution. Ensures prompt customer service in response to inquiries from customers as well as store and Custom Decorating associates.
6. Staffs an in-store decorating studio, as scheduled.
7. Assists in the training of associates, including ride alongs, paperwork completion, and resolution to customer service issues.
8. Shops competition and observes practices of competitors within the trading area and makes recommendations to Sales Manager on products and services.
9. Logs, compiles, files data, and maintains files according to retention procedures. Maintains all samples and price lists.
Basic Knowledge:
· Requires ability to communicate orally and in writing correctly and concisely and to use arithmetic with accuracy and reasonable speed.
· Thorough knowledge of color coordination is preferred.
· Basic custom decorating techniques are desirable.
· Ability to utilize direct selling techniques to build and retain a customer following.
· Requires knowledge of PC data input skills and internet navigation and the ability to interpret data.
Previous Experience:
· Two years’ successful retail selling or related experience or a Design Degree
· Must successfully complete all JCPenney training programs.
