Requirements
Must have completed a Nurse Midwife education program accredited by the American
College of Nurse Midwives. Must have a Master's degree in a health related field,
preferably nursing and/or midwifery; OR, must have an equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Must have current registration or a valid temporary permit from the Texas State Board
of Nurse Examiners acknowledging Advance Practice Nurse status. Must be nationally
certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives and be enrolled in the ACC/ACNM
Continuing Competency Assessment. Must have current CPR certification, or obtain
during initial orientation at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Must maintain current
certification in Neonatal Advanced Life Support. May be required to have a Texas
Class C driver's license, be insurable and have access to an automobile.
Skills or Special Abilities:
Must possess skills detailed in the Core Competencies approved by the American
College of Nurse Midwives. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
in working with a diverse population of patients and families as well as all levels of
professional healthcare team members. Must be physically capable of working any
shift. Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
