Payroll/HR Assistant
Rollins College is seeking a full-time Payroll/HR Assistant to perform a range of complex administrative and technical assistance in support of HR and Payroll programs, services and systems.
Primary responsibilities include assisting the Payroll Manager in the processing of biweekly and monthly payrolls utilizing the SunGard Banner Payroll and web time and attendance systems; auditing electronic timesheets at pay period close, editing and troubleshooting timecard problems, communicating with employees and supervisors regarding edits and approvals; running payroll interfaces to feed employee, time and accrual data between systems; maintaining employee payroll records and accounts, labor assignments and associated pay rules in time and attendance system database; maintaining employee direct deposit accounts; processing checks and direct deposits via electronic fund file transfers; transmitting pension fund contributions to vendors; reviewing and auditing payroll registers; assisting in the preparation of payroll tax filings; processing and remitting payroll deduction payments to various third parties; assisting employees with payroll questions; creating and running data queries and reports utilizing desk top database and report writer software; scanning documents and assisting in the maintenance of electronic personnel files; assisting in the maintenance of SunGard Banner HRIS system and records; assisting with office technology projects; composing correspondence, memos and reports; answering multiple telephone lines, assisting callers or forwarding calls as appropriate; reconciling accounts, processing invoices for vendor payments, preparing travel expense reports, assisting faculty and staff with relocation advances and processing relocation expense reports; coordinating departmental conference registrations and travel arrangements; coordinating arrangements for Rollins staff events, functions and training programs; assisting applicants with questions about the employment process, job postings and online application procedures; assisting in the processing of new hire paperwork; assisting in the maintenance of the employment website as needed; assisting employees with questions, procedures and forms pertaining to benefits, leaves of absence, injury reports, HR policies and procedures, training programs, etc.; assisting in the updating and maintenance of the HR website; maintaining and ordering office supplies and performing related duties as requested.
Requirements
High school education plus two years of additional business, technical or college training or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; requires 2-3 years of job related experience; hands-on payroll processing experience required; strong proficiency with technology and ability to perform advanced functions in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel & Access); experience with SunGard Banner HRIS system or similar HRIS package preferred; knowledge of HRIS, payroll and employee benefit practices preferred; experience using scanning equipment/software in an office environment preferred; experience with a time and attendance system; ability to maintain and update confidential records; superior written and verbal communication skills; excellent telephone etiquette; strong customer service skills; strong multitasking skills to perform effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment; strong organization skills, ability to manage time effectively and attention to detail; knowledge of office budgeting and accounting methods and practices; ability to perform basic mathematical computations; bilingual English/Spanish preferred; ability to use tact and good judgment in resolving work problems and dealing with the public, students, staff and faculty.
The hourly salary is $15.26 with outstanding benefits featuring health, life and dental insurance, generous paid time off, generous retirement contribution after one year, and full tuition waiver for employees, spouses and children.
