The Finance Program Manager supports the VP of Finance by providing complex financial analysis. This person is responsible for monitoring the operational and financial performance of the Valley Health System. Performs thorough analyses and makes recommendations to Management. Individual utilizes statistical, economic, healthcare financial principles and techniques to prepare reports. Work with Department Managers to improve financial performance. Prepare financial proformas for existing or proposed clinical programs to assess financial viability. Develop, revise and modify productivity measures and reports as needed. Assist clinical departments in the annual budgeting process. Be a resource to improve revenue cycle functions and processes. Assist in other financial duties as assigned. Maintain professional competence in the Healthcare industry through continuous education and professional development programs.
Requirements
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:
Experience:
- 5 years in the health care finance/analyst role
- Performed complex financial analysis of clinical services
- Thorough knowledge and use of hospital statistical standards for analysis
- Thorough knowledge of personal computer software applications including Microsoft Office, cost accounting, budgeting, and decision support systems.
- Knowledge of mainframe systems, including general ledger, payroll, patient accounting, patient registration and medical records systems.
- Advance skills in spreadsheet, word processing, database, and graphics.
Education:
- BS in Accounting, Finance or other Health Care related field.
- CPA or MBA preferred
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license. Employees must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurability requirements of the Valley Health System.
Knowledge of:
- Complex financial analysis using industry statistics
- Mature grasp of cost accounting principles and financial planning ability.
- Proficient in the use of analytical skills.
- Proper English construction and grammar.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Cultural and ethnic values, customs, and traditions of facility’s population.
- Hospital established policies quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures.
- Modern office methods, procedures and computer software
Ability to:
- Work under time pressures and meet deadlines with overtime as needed.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Be a team player and self-starter who is accurate and detail oriented.
- Learn and pick up on new concepts quickly.
- Organize and conduct meetings and training sessions.
