Description
Position Summary:
Manages the physician billing Customer Service and Collections staff and ensures an effective daily distribution and process for workflow. Conducts billing, coding and collection reviews to ensure that work is being performed in accordance with departmental policies and other regulatory agencies, and that work is being performed correctly and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Assists the Director, CBO in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures. Assists Director, CBO with compliance issues. Supervises assigned personnel and is responsible for employment related matters including hiring, training, orienting, disciplining, and evaluating performance. Develops and implements record keeping systems, forms, policies and procedures related to billing, processing payments, collections and customer service. Develops and pursues collection strategies. Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies and implements appropriate corrective procedures.
Communicates and coordinates client financial policies, practices, and procedures with department and company managers and officials, vendors, clients, customers and the public. Oversees applicable daily and monthly closing functions. Reviews and authorizes patient account write offs and refunds. Ensures that all balancing and accounting information is forwarded to the accounting department in a timely fashion. Manages the distribution of month-end reports. Functions as a liaison between clients and staff regarding billing and collection issues. Reviews audit reports routinely to assure the accuracy and quality of the staff production. Monitors volume indicators to ensure that employee performance standards are being achieved. Reviews the work logs of assigned staff on a weekly basis to ensure that production standards are being met. Follows all HIPAA regulations and maintains strict confidentiality and business ethics.
Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Business or HealthCare Administration or equivalent experience. Minimum 5-7 years in a large multi specialty medical office or hospital experience with at least two years of managerial experience over seeing customer service and billing functions.Extensive knowledge in CPT and ICD-9 coding required.
Proven interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to deal confidentially and effectively on all levels. Proven problem-solving skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to senior management and physicians. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
