Description DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
     Occupational Health and Safety

1.         Ensure that the Company complies with all relevant OSHA regulations.

2.         Develop, implement, and maintain all relevant OSHA-mandated written Health and Safety Programs.

3.         Manage all MSDS record system.

4.         Provide initial training and retraining for all applicable employees in accordance with OSHA requirements.

5.         Conduct investigations of all workplace accidents and ensure needed improvements are implemented to help prevent future incidents. Assist the Manager, Human Resources with Workers’ Compensation reporting requirements and related issues.

6.         Conduct employee safety and health segment of new hire orientation.

7.         Conduct routine safety audits of all plants and follow up on action items.

8.         Consult Engineering on plant and equipment safety and occupational health issues.

9.         Chair Safety Committee and give direction to committee members.

10.       Interact with employees on all shifts in all facilities to maintain communication and raise the level of health and safety awareness.

11.       Develop effective safety programs, policies, and procedures to help prevent workplace accidents.

12.              Conduct risk assessments for all company sites and propose needed changes to reduce or eliminate identified risks. When appropriate, coordinate with outside consultants or vendors to assess risks outside the scope of incumbent’s experience.

13.              Routinely inspect plant machinery and equipment to identify needs for improvement, then submit proposal to the Manager, Engineering for the new project.

14.              Special projects, as assigned.
15.              Ensure all the facility complies with all safety rules and procedures, as well as good housekeeping within the plants, in accordance with SOPs, work instructions, and GMPs.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

      Environmental Affairs

1.         Coordinate removal of hazardous waste.

2.         Responsible for Right To Know reporting and compliance.

3.         Responsible for Waste Water compliance.

4.         Ensure that permits are submitted for air exhaust.

5.         Maintain current Storm Water Pollution permit for the Burlington facility.

6.         Review and maintain all files regarding environmental compliance documentation.

7          Work closely with the Manager, Engineering for environmental compliance issues.

8.         Special projects, as assigned.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Human Resources

·         Recruiting – Coordinate recruitment, screening and hiring procedures to ensure appropriate staffing for the  facilities.  Maintain necessary records of all screened and interviewed applicants. 

·         Training – Assist in development of training plans and course content.  Facilitate training classes, such as:  benefits orientation, performance management, leadership training, employment law, and other topics as needed.

·         Benefits – Assist employees with enrollment, changes, questions as needed.

·         Employee Relations – Assist in guiding the supervisory/management staff in employee counseling and progressive discipline as guided by HR Manager.  Maintain a positive outlook while resolving employee questions, issues, conflicts.

·         Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.

·         Perform related duties, special assignments and projects as required.

 

 

 

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES

·          Working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.

·          Good oral and written communication skills in English.

·          Knowledge of basic word processing, spreadsheet, and engineering software.

·          Ability to train employees to comply with government regulations.

·          Ability to determine appropriate engineering changes to machinery to improve performance.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

·          Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred, or equivalent knowledge and experience.

·          At least 5 years experience in any combination of occupational health and safety and/or environmental compliance.

·           Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
