MANUFACTURING QUALITY ENGINEER
Columbus, IN (Relocation Will Be Provided
DUTIES: Develops departmental budget and manages departmental activities within budget constraints ($450 K annually). Provide plant leadership for implementing quality policies, setting objectives, and achieving annual improvement goals for systems implementation. Manages the Product Appraisal, Process Audit, and Incoming Inspection functions. Manages the Corrective Action Request (CAR) process by tracking CAR status and insuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are effective. Acts as primary quality contact for internal functions and to suppliers. Develop suppliers and raw material performance requirements for the products manufactured at the plant site. Insures non-conforming raw materials are isolated, communicated to appropriate internal and external sources and disposed of correctly. Monitors plant quality data and makes recommendations to insure that plant is consistently manufacturing product within specification. Manages all "use" and "abuse testing requirements. Insures that change control is properly followed whenever process or raw material changes are made within the plant. Manages traceability system Track and report quality Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the plant and provide recommendations for improving the numbers and reaching targets. Monitors and investigates customer/consumer complaints regarding quality and makes appropriate adjustments. Manages the development and publication of Manufacturing Work Instructions. Serves as Quality Leader and Voice of the Customer for the manufacturing facility. Manages career development and training of direct reports. Develops strong working relationships with others in the organization to influence the quality philosophy in the company's ongoing operations. Provides direction to quality staff(eight to ten associates) in attaining and maintaining plant quality, preventing defects, and achieving breakthrough improvement
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Must have a four year technical degree, prefer BS ME. Must have at least ten years of manufacturing experience, three years of which must be as a Quality Manager. Must have a very deep knowledge of injection molded plastics and quality process used in manufacturing. Must have knowledge of and experience in regulatory and compliance issues, such as FMVSS and/or NHTSA. Prefer experience in Child Restraint Systems (CRS). Prefer SSBB certification. Must have excellent problem solving, communication (oral and written), and leadership skills. Soft skills required are: personable, persuasive, high energy, sense of urgency, flexible, “can do “attitude, team player and team leader, and results oriented.
