Health Information Management and Systems 

Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the online learning environment. Provide career education through learner-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace. Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility, diversity and ethics as well as personal and professional development.

 

  • Teach courses as assigned by the Dean of Education up to the maximum number of contact hours allowed by current accreditation.
  • Actively engage in retention activities including documented communication with both students and administration regarding attendance and progress.
  • Provide annual documentation of continuing professional growth.
  • Relate industry experience to learning.
  • Enables student exit competencies.
 



 

  • Bachelor degree required, preferably in a health care field.  
  • 2+ years experience with ICD-9-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding required; coding certification preferred.
  • 2+ years experience in medical insurance billing required.  
  • Experience with electronic medical records software and 3M encoder preferred, but not required.  Consideration given to new instructors.  
  • Foreign Medical Graduates USMLE eligible will be considered.
