Description

Human Services Agency in Washington, DC seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Education Specialist to work with the Foster Care and Semi-independent living programs.  The responsibilities include conducting educational/vocational assessments; identify educational/vocational resources; develop individual education plans; advocate for program participant’s educational needs; and provide guidance/support to youth.  The successful incumbent will be detail oriented, have the ability to work with diverse staff and service population, work well in a team setting, and have the willingness to travel within the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

Requirements

1.     Master’s degree in education, guidance counseling or related field from an accredited college or university.

 

2.     Special education certified or related certificate/license eligibility required.

 

3.     One year post-master’s experience in providing services to at-risk children, experience gained prior to Master’s may be considered.

 

4.     Knowledge of and experience with Africentric or other spiritually focused models or a strengths perspective highly desirable.

 

5.     Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for working collaboratively.

 

6.     Evidence of effective professional writing skills.

7.     Certification in NTU psychotherapy or completion within one year of hire.
