Description
Milne Library seeks an Instructional Support Technician for the evening shift. This is a full-time, college-year appointment, working from August through May. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the functions of the Library and the Technology Center until closing at 1 AM, Sunday through Thursday. This position reports to the Head of Access Services. The College at Oneonta has 5,800 students and 450 faculty, and offers over 60 undergraduate majors and nine graduate programs. Milne Library contributes to the overall mission of the College by providing resources and services to meet the intellectual and academic needs of students, faculty, and staff. Duties: Oversee the Library and Technology Center functions during the evening/night hours (approx. 5PM - 1AM EST); supervise hourly Library Support Assistants and student workers; assist patrons at the reference desk, and answer questions related to ILL, circulation, and technology; conduct bibliographic searches, using ExLibris’s ALEPH and bibliographic utilities, as necessary, for ILL and cataloging processes; work with University Police to address any security issues; in consultation with the Head of Access Services, enhance procedures, policies, and/or services to meet the academic and research needs of students, faculty, and staff throughout the library. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred: Two or more years experience working in an academic library; experience in providing library reference service.
