Substitute Youth Counselor

Need qualified candidates for Substitute (as-needed basis) Youth Counselor positions.  Dependable, self-motivated persons are highly desired.  Must be 21 years of age.

 Accountable for the implementation of the agencies cottage routine.  Teaches positive behavior and provides positive role model to residents (i.e. appropriate language, dress, and social skills).   Works cooperatively with all staff for the good of The Methodist Home and projects a positive public image.  Communicates all pertinent information concerning the residents to the Team Leader, to assure the overall well being of the residents.  Accountable for the proper documentation of regular cottage checks and communicates physical facility needs to the appropriate parties.  Assures that routine health care and first aid, as detailed in The Methodist Home’s policies and procedures, are provided to each child.  Assures that first aid and medical supplies are available in the cottage.  Assures proper dispensation and documentation of medication.  Assures the implementation of recreation activities and participates in those activities with the Residents.   Attends all required meetings. Is prepared to discuss cottage issues, employee issues, treatment issues, and is prepared to give a written response when needed.  Is training in and assures that issues related to the safe and healthy operation of the cottage are being implemented such as: meal preparation, routine chore supervision, laundry, minor maintenance or cleaning tasks, implementation of the incentive system, specific treatment objectives for each child, that Residents are focused on treatment goals, and other related cottage issues.

• Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED
• A valid Kentucky Driver’s License
• Must submit to extensive background investigations. 
• Must be able to perform Safe Crisis Management skills.  Will train.
