Senior Design Engineer, Hydraulic Components

 

Tactair Fluid Controls, Inc. is an ISO 9001-2000 and AS9100 certified designer and manufacturer of fluid control components for the aerospace and defense industries. Located in the scenic Finger Lakes region of Central New York, Tactair competes globally from its state of the art design and manufacturing facility in Liverpool, NY where it employs an experienced and highly skilled work force.   Tactair’s hydraulic and pneumatic product lines include electro-hydraulic and hydro-mechanical rotary and linear actuators, linear locking actuators, and hydraulic cylinders; linear and rotary dampers; and multi-function manifolds.  Tactair (http://www.tactair.com/) specializes in systems for wheel brake control, landing gear control, nose wheel steering control, flight control, and engine/nacelle control found on a variety of fixed and rotary wing business, commuter, transport, and military aircraft.

  

Overview:  Serve as a key member of Tactair’s design engineering team who will be responsible for the design of new hydraulic components for aerospace applications.   

 

 Responsibilities:

 

  • Design, develop and test actuators, valves, accumulators and related hydraulic components for aerospace and industrial applications
  • Carry out the product design process using leading-edge engineering computer-aided design tools; Finite Element Analysis, 3D modeling, Computational Fluid Dynamics and Simulation
  • Perform components and systems analysis
  • Coordinate with manufacturing to plan the fabrication, assembly and test of new product designs
  • Define and and prepare specifications for sourced components
  • Prepare product design packages for use in preliminary and critical design reviews; lead both product qualification and acceptance test procedure development.
  • Support marketing in preparation of technical proposals
Requirements

Senior Design Engineer, Hydraulic Components

 

Qualifications:

  

  • B.S.M.E. or Aerospace Engineering required; MS preferred
  • Minimum 7 years experience in the design of aerospace hydraulic components, including actuators, valves, accumulators  and manifold assemblies
  • Extensive working knowledge of aerospace material specifications, processes and practices
  • Ability to organize and perform conceptual design, new design, prototype, qualification and final production release
  • Extensive experience and facilitywith Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing based on the ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
  •  Extensive knowledge of steel, stainless steel and aluminum forging and casting applications and processes
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
