Our client is a leading supplier of special machine tool with customers in the metalworking industry. They are seeking a Manager - Software Application Engineers to be come part of the engineering team in Rockford, IL.

The Opportunity

The Manager for the Software Application Engineers will become part of a development team that develops software dedicated to the design and manufacturing of composite structures for a variety of applications.  The Manager will respond directly to the Business Unit Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise the overall “manufacturing process integration" for composite parts.

• Guide, direct, lead and participate in software development activities

• Improve manufacturing process integration

• Oversees the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of the software.

• Delivers short-, mid- and long-term cost estimations for projects.

• Customer support for process integration.

• Analyzes and investigates applications engineering tasks and prepares

  design specifications, analysis, and recommendations.

• Ensure products and services provided by the company meet the highest standards.

• Become very knowledgeable of the entire Hardware & Software

  infrastructure for automated machine tools and robotics equipments

• Working closely with other departments to meet the division's goals

• Meet deadlines and company goals

• Demonstrate Continuous improvement philosophy

• BA / BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

   Alternatively: BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 

   sufficient experience in a software development environment

• Strong motivational skills.

• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem solving skills.

• Proven ability to develop employees.

• Success in leading small/mid-sized development teams on projects,

  monitoring progress, and ensuring deliverables are met on time and on budget

• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills

• Good communication skills

• Flexible work attitude and excellent team player

• Programming skills (C++ , java, pearl preferred)

• Experience in using CAD system, CATIA V5 preferred

• Experience with Microsoft Windows based development environment

• Experience in using standard Office applications, e.g. Word, Excel, MS Project.

• Experience in customer support for software applications

• Knowledge in the application of large machine tools preferred

• Experience in the application and integration of robotic systems preferred

• Experience in using SAP preferred.
