Description

Hillside Animal Clinic is looking for energetic, self-motivated team players that want to help care for our boarding pets.  This would include providing room service for the pets (feeding and medicating), acting as a personal trainer (walking dogs), and maid service (housekeeping of pet(s) quarters).  Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work weekends and holidays.  They must be dependable, trustworthy and able to work without close supervision. 

Three full-time shift positions are available:

Sunday through Wednesday
Wednesday through Saturday
Monday through Friday 

 

Requirements

Kennel Attendants:  A kennel attendant is responsible for taking caring of a variety of small and large breeds and interacting with pet owners. This includes feeding, watering, socializing and cleaning kennels, as well as the well being for pets in their care. Qualified individuals will be alert, reliable and be able to gather information about pets in order to relay to owners if necessary. Successful applicants will possess strong self initiative and enjoy cleaning, maintaining a sanitary work environment and working hands on with animals.  Experience and office skills a plus.

Responsibilities:
–Perform daily cleaning of kennels, cages and public areas, follow disease control protocol to ensure a safe and healthy environment

–Walk through all kennel areas checking each animal individually for any abnormal activity such as vomiting, diarrhea, or blood in the cage or run
–Keep doctors informed of animal behavior, health or concerns

–Recognize emergency situations

–Understand, notate, report and comply with "Special Needs" check-ins, boards and check-outs
–Mark charts correctly for eating, drinking, fecal and urine production
–Feed and water animals according to schedule
–Clean and disinfect all cages, runs, yards as needed
–Perform baths on those animals that qualify for a bath, the day they go home
–Supervise animals when they are in the yards and perform “TLC"

–Record medication instruction on the kennel medication chart

–Do laundry and keep treatment areas stocked with clean bedding and towels  

–Report inventory needs on "want" list

–Stock all kennel supplies as needed

–Stock areas and spot-clean kennels and public areas throughout the day

–Give facility tours

–Ability to recognize a need for assistance and ask for help

–Other duties as assigned

Requirements

–High School diploma or equivalent required.

–Must be able to learn basic veterinary medical concepts 

–Must also be able to communicate basic veterinary concepts to owners and be able to repeat information relayed by a –veterinarian 

–Must be able to communicate with the public on a daily basis in a professional manner

–Must be able to learn characteristics of animal behavior (for example: be able to identify aggressive or fearful behavior) 

–Is consistently at work and on time

–Must be able to use appropriate safety equipment for fractious or feral animals (will train) 

–While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk, to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to or more than 100 pounds
