Transportation Supervisor

Position Summary:
Responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the transportation department. Prepares truck routing to ensure timely and cost effective distribution of product to customers. Supervises and directs company drivers, audit, chart routes, ensures compliance with DOT regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares truck routing utilizing Roadnet to ensure timely and cost effective distribution of product to customers
- Schedules personnel to ensure proper staffing
- Utilizes MobileCast to manage driver routes
- Provides day to day leadership for fleet maintenance policy and processes
- Implements and maintain procedures and processes which ensure regulatory DOT compliance.
- Resolves delivery issuesÂ
Additional job duties:
- Evaluates driver performance
- Trains, supervises, and disciplines employees
- Provides reports to management
- Handles all driver related transportation issues
- Handles employee issues and problem solves.
- Maintains all DOT related recordkeeping
Requirements
Transportation Supervisor
Requirements of Transportation Supervisor:
Education, Certifications and or licenses:
- Associates Degree preferred, minimum or a High school or GED degree.
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years in transportation management
- Five years supervisory experience
- Five years in distribution industry required
- Hands on experience with purchasing and leasing of tractors, trailers, equipment, etc.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Roadnet Routing Software and Mobilecast
- Complete and through understanding of DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret maps
- Ability to read, write, spell and speak in clear, concise English
- Must have good supervisory and communication skills
- Must have email, electronic and other related skills
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment
- Must possess good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize departmental function in order to meet deadlines
- Ability to manage and motivate direct reports to achieve objectives
- Strong Customer Service experience
- Must possess stress management skills
Physical Demands:
- Ability to spend long period of time sitting.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to use hands and fingers; handle, or feel, reach with hands arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, see and hear. Is frequently required to stand and walk.
Working Conditions And Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, is regularly exposed to normal business office environment. Will occasionally be exposed to warehouse conditions.
