Requirements

The successful candidate will bring capacity in managing a comparable sized organization overseeing q multitude of public-funded projects where cost accounting, compliance and timely reporting is required.  It is unlikely that an individual who has not interfaced, managed and navigated a significant number of government-funded contracts will bring the expertise nor garner the satisfaction in performing this leadership role.  Prospective candidates should anticipate investing time with staff in strengthening systems and problem-solving aimed at greater accuracy, efficiency and timeliness.  Business strategies that evaluate cost-benefit of service deliverables are welcomed.

A blend of entrepreneurial nonprofit or CAP experience coupled with some private business experience is optimal.  Because the housing division has tripled in budget and scope over the past 3-5 years, career experience in affordable housing would be very helpful to OFC.  That department’s fee-for-service energy subsidiary, Quaranta Energy Services, is viewed as having significant potential to yield unrestricted revenue for the agency.  There is a desire to pursue additional service lines that offer potential for unrestricted revenue opportunities as well. A track record in successful grant-writing is considered a strong plus.

In terms of management and leadership style, OFC has a talented and experienced 10-member Senior Leadership Team.  An Executive Director with a special gift and interest in communication and leadership cultivation is being sought.  An open-door philosophy that engages and involves program managers in visioning, problem-solving, program planning and fiscal accountability will be fruitful.  Executives who do not enjoy employee cultivation and acknowledgement are not encouraged to apply. The OFC board is hopeful that the incoming Executive Director will enjoy a long tenure that considers succession planning for purposese of future leadership growth and continuity.

Central New York is a beautiful rural area that offers quality of life and a variety of outdoor opportunities.  For more information visit www.chenangony.org
