Description Job Summary/Basic Function:
Assist the leadership to ensure that persons with disabilities have access to opportunities available at the college, for providing counseling support services to students, for coordination of counseling services, and coordination and supervision of tutoring services.  

Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide counseling and follow-up services to assist students with identified needs and concerns that affect academic success.
Respond to requests from faculty regarding students in need of counseling support and guidance.
Provide counseling to students who have a diagnosed disability. Identify, secure and coordinate, in accordance with the American Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
Communicate concerns and provide necessary support and materials for faculty, staff, and other service providers to assist in the identification and development of methods to assist students.
Establish and maintain referral resources and relationships with external agencies and programs for additional support services for students.
Maintain confidential student counseling contact records. Educate faculty, staff, and students in crisis management.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree required. Advising in an academic setting required. Must have leadership qualities, strong organizational skills, and an understanding of teaching delivery systems, including distance education.  
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling preferred. Experience working with special student populations and teaching experience preferred.
Experience dealing with people with and the documentation associated with learning disabilities, hearing impairment, visual impairment, chronic diseases, psychiatric disabilities, and/or mobility impairments preferred.  

This is part-time, benefits-eligible position scheduled 24 hours per week: specific schedule to be determined.
