Job Description 

Job Summary:

 

Manages the daily activities of the Health Information Management Department to ensure efficient workflow and productivity based upon hospital policy and standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies.

 

Primary Job Duties:

 

The below listed job responsibilities and standards are intended to reflect the major responsibilities and duties of the job, but are not intended to describe minor duties or other responsibilities assigned from time to time.  All duties are to be performed according to OHS and departmental policies and procedures.
 

  • Manages remote and onsite staff
  • Adherence to regulatory/accreditation requirements and OHS policy
  • Develops and maintains metrics for productivity and quality
  • Ensures requirements are met for the legal medical record
  • Manages the medical record completion process
  • Acts as a liaison to the acute care sites to work through and resolve medical and departmental issues
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates the performance of staff.
  • Ensures that the operational goals and objectives are met
  • Manages the financial and capital resources of the department by monitoring operating revenue and expenses.  Has overall accountability for staffing levels, structure and skill mix.
  • Implements process improvement initiatives and develops policies and procedures for all functions.
 


Job Requirements 

Minimum Job Qualifications:


Education:  
Associates degree in Health Information Management

 

Experience: 5 years of Health Information Management experience with at least 2 years management experience in a Health Information Management Department.

  

Licensure:    RHIT, RHIA required

 

Skills & Abilities:  Demonstrates leadership, interpersonal communication and organizational skills with detailed follow though.  Technical and analytical skills required and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.  General PC knowledge is necessary with  proficiencies in INVISION and Microsoft Office applications.
