Nurse Assistant Instructor

Primary teaching assignment is in the Nurse Assistant program.

Collaborate with other faculty and the Dean for Health and Life Sciences in providing leadership for curriculum and program development, student recruitment and retention.
Participate in related college and curricular activities.

Incorporate learning-centered college principles and concepts. Classes may be offered during daytime, evening and weekend hours and at multiple campus locations.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing and teaching experience at the vocational/technical or community college level desired. 

Must meet instructor requirements as outlined by the Illinois Department of Public Health including requirements for teaching theory and Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias.

Valid license as registered nurse in Illinois or eligibility for Illinois licensure and two years clinical experience as a registered nurse required. 

One year documented experience caring for the elderly or the chronically ill of any age through employment in a nursing faciility, extended care unit, geriatrics department, chronic care unit, hospice, swing bed unit of a hospital, or other long-term care setting and/or evidence of teaching in an accredited nurse or nurse assistant training program required.

An interdisciplinary focus integrating innovative learning strategies and demonstrated ability to enhance the success of diverse student populations is essential.

Experience incorporating technology and multimedia applications into the teaching and learning process and interest in all forms of alternative learning are highly desirable.
