The Librarian develops goals and objectives, policies, procedures and programs to assure the efficient operation of the school’s library system by coordinating the selection of materials, reference services and instruction in library use, overseeing the library staff, and administering budget.
- Assures that customers receive efficient and courteous service.
- Provide vision and leadership for the development of library resources, services, and policies.
- Develop short- and long-range plans for the library that support the goals of the school and ensure compliance with all accreditation standards.
- Administer all library functions and activities.
- Prepare and manage the library budget.
- Plan, develop, and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective operations.
- Manage the library staff.
- Collects, organizes, disseminates, and controls information, from a wide variety of internal and external sources.
- Assist students and faculty in using the library effectively.
- Select, order, catalog, and maintain library resources that support the curriculum.
- Develop and implement a program of library orientation and information literacy instruction that supports the instructional program and teaches lifelong learning skills.
- Promote and encourage the ethical use of information by students and faculty.
- Assess the effectiveness of library resources and services in supporting the instructional program.
- Maintain records and statistics on the library collection and library use to meet all regulatory reporting requirements.
- Participate in campus activities as a member of the academic team.

Experience Required
Master’s of Library Science (MLS) or Master’s of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree required; ALA accredited program preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the curriculum preferred.
One to three years of library experience; academic library experience preferred.
Teaching or library instruction experience preferred.
Experience with American Library Association higher education standards and national/regional accreditation standards preferred.
